A group of five Haupehtep treeships, cruiser equivalent, hover above a planet, seeming to be deactivated, although, with their ships, that means nothing.

Four CAs [Heavy Cruisers] Jump from Sub-space and form in to a diamond wall pattern. They raise shields and charge weapons, then dash forward at the Haupehtep ships, launching four torpedoes each from their bow ports.

The Haupehtep ships scatter into a star shaped formation, the torpedos vanishing into a warp spell, as a volley of lightning magic crackles from the ships.

The Lightning crackles around their shields causing minor over loads, but they come back up quickly. They begin firing their KECs into the Treeships.

One of the treeships turns, taking the KEC shots broadside, as the warped torpedos appear behind the Howlon ships, continuing on their original path... and into the ships that fired them.

the aft shields fail, but no torpedoes actually hit the hull. The CAs charge into the middle of the treeship formation, opening up with their KECs again, as they attempt to power back up their aft shields.

The Treeships scatter, releasing what appears to be a massive cloud of chaff into the center of the formation. before grouping behind the ships, unleashing fireball spells at the aft sections, but making sure to not hit the engines.

the fireballs scorch the aft hull plating, but cause little damage to the hardened alloy armor. The aft KECs track and fire on the treeships.

As the KEC's fire, the "chaff" comes to life, latching onto the Howlon ships like some sort of REALLY stick sap, causing the weapons to have difficulty tracking, as the Treeships move, opening fire with more powerful fireball spells, these designed to pierce, then detonate.

The new fireball spells pierce the hull, but detonate right beneath the outer hull. The KECs are still able to track the treeships sufficiently to hit more often than not, but not as often as before...not nearly.

It's quickly noted that the Bajing are focusing their fire on the Howlon ship's weapons. their fireballs getting more and more accurate.

Several turrets are hit and blasted off the hulls of their respective ships. A point-blank barrage of missle clusters leave the bow tubes, flashing across the short distance to the treeships, and opening and dispersing to cover the ships in fire. To the horror of the Haupehtep they find that their magics rarely, and barely, see the missles.

The Treeships tumble away, shield spells coming to bear as the ships pull away, magic beginning to build to such a point that even the Howlon sensors detect it.

The ships dash at flank speed away from the treeships, trying to put distance between them and the build-up of magic. Their aft KECs continue to fire, and their twin aft launch tubes fire more missile clusters. Most of the clusters detonate half-way between the two fleets, jamming most of the Bajing sensor spells. The rest of the missile clusters race on to the treeships, scattering as before, but detonating with high-yield focused warheads, instead of area burners.

The ships all fire a simultainious volley of raw mana energy, which roars across the space between the two groups, and lashing against their shields, like a live animal, destroying the missiles between them.

The aft shields, barely there, collapse completely, and the aft hull seems to desolves under the onslaught of raw mana. Two CAs' reactor fields collapse as well and detonate, ripping the aft hull off of one, and blasting apart the other. The two remaining ships fall out of real space.

Six CAs are in high orbit over a green world, shields up, but weapons on stand-by.

A group of four Haupehtehp Treeship Cruisers are in a lower orbit on the other side of the planet, keeping the world between themselves and the howlon ships.

the CAs slowly power up their weapons, and slowly accelerate around the planet. [the treeships pick-up a low level signal coming from nearby...a sensor bouy.]

The Haupehtehp ships seem to be going into a lower orbit, hovering just on the edge of the world's atmosphere, and letting the magnetic field, as well as the light reflecting off the surface, hide their presence.

the sensor bouy goes active, pinging the area and picking up the "flying trees" in atmospheric orbit. the CAs continue around, but stay in high orbit, to maintain a "high-ground" advantage.

The buoy is shortly destroyed by a well aimed explosive spell, as the trees begin to move around the planet again, still trying to keep the other ships on the far side.

the CAs are now far enough around the world to see the Treeships, and accelerate faster to keep them in view, as well as close to firing range. they stay in high orbit.

The Treeships accelerate anough to vanish behind the planet again, then quickly pull into a much higher orbit, so when the Howlons look, they seem to have vanished, even if only for a few seconds.
